Liquid Chromatography - Mass Spectrometry (LC - MS)
Liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry is an analytical chemistry technique that
combines the physical separation capabilities of liquid chromatography with the mass
analysis capabilities of mass spectrometry.
Mass spectrometry is an Instrumental technique in which sample is converted to rapidly
moving positive or negative ions by electron bombardment and charged particles are
separated according to their masses
Mass spectrum is a plot of relative abundance against the ratio of mass/charge (m/z)
LC-MS is used for the separation of Components and Determination of Molecular Mass
of the components in a sample. The samples can be analysed using different interfaces
like ESI and APCI probes.
